USE CASE

MEDICAL TECH. COMPONENT IN SERIES PRODUCTION

World leader for needle-free injections: this is the ambitious goal that medical technology manufacturer Henke-Sass Wolf pursued with this project. The result is the EPIG, a needle-free vaccination device for piglets.

HENNgineered supported this development, starting with the injection moulding design for the EPIG’s housing. The HENNgineered team not only determined the injection points and wall thicknesses for the 2-component injection moulding, they also developed the specified design structure to production maturity. In addition to material consulting and sourcing, they ensured that all materials used were certified. The housing also had to protect the technology inside from dirt and moisture, for which the team found a solution as well.

The HENNgineered designers developed improvements to both the outer housing and the battery housing, without visible separation, with unlocking and in consultation with Henke-Sass Wolf and the battery manufacturer. In all, only a few months went by from development, to making the tools, to producing the first plastic injection moulded parts.

The assembly is now produced in series at HENNgineered. This involves producing the plastic housing as well as printing the markings on the housing and gluing in the viewing windows. Production of the internal metal parts completes the process.
